Don't forget your camera, as wildlife sightings include bobcat, red fox, fisher, the harmless Adirondack black bear and moose. If you don't see wildlife in the yard or on the trails, guests may visit the nearby Adirondack Wildlife Refuge, where friends and family can meet falcons, owls and other critters, while learning from Refuge personnel all about nature and how habitat and climate work to sustain the world we inhabit. Other interesting topics for discussion include how old is the universe and how long have people been on earth, how will climate change affect not only us, but the wildlife we share our planet with, and how did we develop dogs out of wolves, and livestock out of wild animals and when did that all this happen? We have noted the return of our eagles to their nest at the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge, across from our dock on the the Ausable on Jan 30th.

The Refuge provides canoes and kayaks, as well as public fishing access on Lake Everest, right across from an eagle’s nest. Routine sightings on Lake Everest and its surrounding sloughs include bald eagles, osprey, hawks, vultures, mergansers, mallards, great blue herons, beaver, mink, and many other critters.

We really enjoyed this home. There was nothing missing. It felt like home at the same time the host took care of what one could need during a vacation. We highly recommend this home.

Michael's place was our home base while travelling to the area to participate in the Ironman Lake Placid race. It was very comfortable and provided us athletes with everything we needed to relax before the race and recover after! It is also located right off of the bike course which was great for family to catch us and cheer us on. The location right in Wilmington is so great and gives you access to so many great things to do and an easy drive to Lake Placid. We will definitely look to stay here again for our next trip to the area!

What an incredible find! Look no further. This space was much bigger than we expected, and having bedrooms on multiple floors was so great for privacy when you are a larger group (multiple bathrooms-spacious and clean!). The kitchen was beautiful and so well equipped with everything you will need and more to cook incredible meals for a few days. We got local recommendations for restaurants and places to hang out to enjoy the water and surrounding area. It is five mins away from a local park and beach, and not even two mins from a great restaurant! Michael's response time was fast, clear, helpful, kind, and flexible. He gave us many options and suggestions for kids too! This place is perfect for all ages (we had three under 5) and everyone was happy with plenty of activities to do. When it rained, the house even had some kid toys and books to enjoy. Thank you again for hosting us! We hope to make this a yearly tradition!!

Love our stay!! Everything was great. Loved the sauna, fire pit, and openness of the space so we could all hang out comfortably. We usually stay in Lake Placid each year but it was really nice to stay a little further away in Wilmington and enjoy the surrounding area. Rudy’s scar bar right up the street had amazing food!

This was a weekend trip with the family (7 of us plus a baby) to watch ice hockey games in Lake Placid. Michael’s home was 15 minutes from town but an easy trip. We all had separate family space and bathrooms. We brought a mat for the floor allowing the baby to move around. The beds were clean and comfortable. The hot tub was great and especially enjoyed by my son-in-law after playing ice hockey. Due to the location, there is limited phone service (Verizon phones were able to place calls, AT&T did not.) Provided Wi-Fi was available if you needed to connect to your email or an app that let you call over Wi-Fi. Other than coffee, we really did not cook so I would not be able to tell you how the cooking supplies were. There are several places to eat in Lake Placid and a couple closer.
